We are currently seeking an ambitious and experienced Indirect Tax Manager with exceptional analytical as well as creative skills to form part of our dynamic, specialist Indirect Tax Team. How you will Make an Impact

Reporting directly to the leader of the Indirect Tax function, you will be responsible for delivering and reviewing indirect tax advisory and compliance engagements, with a particular emphasis on Value Added Tax (VAT) as well as other indirect taxes and reporting requirements including CESOP, customs duties and excise duties.


Your main responsibilities would include:

  • Advising clients on a wide range of indirect taxes, particularly VAT
  • Consulting and proactively understanding client needs and working with them to develop relevant and valuable solutions
  • Managing and reviewing the indirect tax component of tax due diligence engagements on transactions that involve mergers and acquisitions
  • Proactively managing team members in their day-to-day work including addressing client requests
  • Liaising with the Malta Tax and Customs Administration to discuss client indirect tax issues, and supporting with VAT audits and enquiries
  • Contributing to initiatives to enhance and streamline indirect tax processes and systems
  • Reviewing indirect tax compliance deliverables
  • Reinforcing technical competence by keeping up-to-date on local and EU VAT and other indirect tax developments, trends and legislative changes, and applying this to client situations
  • Supporting business development efforts including eminence-building initiatives, as well as pre-empting any potential business development initiatives

 

Let’s Talk About You

Having worked in the field of indirect taxation for at least 5 years, the ideal candidate will have experience in Malta / other EU Member States’ VAT law and its practical implications. Preference will be given to those in possession of a university degree or a masters in Accountancy, Law or Tax, or hold the equivalent of an ACCA qualification, or another relevant tertiary qualification.

  • Demonstrates integrity and an inquisitive mind, making reasonable inquiries if facts or information appear to be incorrect/incomplete, irrespective of pressures and circumstances
  • Adapts to changing priorities as they arise, and seeks guidance where appropriate from the Indirect Tax Leader
  • Has an excellent command of English, both in writing and verbally
  • Identifies possible explanations and alternatives to solve a problem and defines valid solutions, drawing on technology tools
  • Supports team(s) to understand the need to adapt and subsequently identify ways to adapt, when required
  • Completes all training and other related professional obligations on a proactive and timely basis, while guiding team members to achieve the same
  • Takes ownership of business development opportunities of medium complexity, or modules of more complex pursuits/opportunities


Your Specialized skills:

  • Staying well informed on upcoming indirect tax legislative developments, including proposed changes, and the potential impacts on clients
  • Building strong relationships with clients by thinking and acting in their best interest
  • Having a strong professional interest and experience in VAT and/or other indirect taxes
  • Post-graduate qualification in Taxation will be considered an asset (e.g. ADIT, or Masters in Taxation/LLM)
