We are seeking a Senior Consultant – Responsible AI Expert to join the Data & AI Ethics team at Deloitte’s Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory in Milan or Rome.
This role is ideal for professionals with a strong technical background in Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI engineering, combined with a solid understanding of the ethical, societal, and governance dimensions of AI and data.
Our team collaborates with national and international organizations to shape the responsible adoption of AI and data, to support the design and implementation of governance frameworks for ethical AI and data practices, and to conduct impact assessments and assist clients in aligning AI strategies with global regulations (e.g., EU AI Act) and ethical standards.


Your Role

The Experienced resource will be responsible for:

  • Project Execution related to AI and Data Ethics for major national and international clients across various industries and public sector entities
  • Contribute to the ideation, development, enhancement of technical AI assurance solutions, such as:
  • Fairness and bias auditing tools
  • LLM safety evaluation pipelines and safety testing frameworks
  • Red-teaming methodologies for generative and predictive AI models
  • Robustness, reliability, and performance stress-testing tools
  • Automated monitoring and model governance dashboard
  • Client Advisory by implementing responsible governance frameworks for AI and data, aligning strategies with regulatory requirements and ethical standards
  • Risk Assessment and impact analyses to identify and mitigate societal and ethical risks associated with AI and data use
  • Regulatory alignment, translating legal and policy requirements into technical and organizational processes and strategies



Winning Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in consulting or in a technology-focused organization, working in quantitative or engineering roles such as Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or AI Specialist, ideally with involvement in risk, governance, or responsible AI initiatives.
  • Degree in  STEM disciplines, (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science) or equivalent technical background.
  • Hands-on Experience in the end-to-end management of Data Science and Machine Learning projects: design, development, and testing of AI solutions
  • Knowledge of Python and the main machine learning and LLM development libraries (e.g., PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangChain).
  • Knowledge of modern LLM and agentic AI frameworks and protocols, and prompting engineering techniques
  • Familiarity with technical AI assurance techniques, such as bias and fairness evaluation, model explainability, performance and drift monitoring, and robustness checks.
  • Familiarity  of the European Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) and and key standards and guidelines in AI and data governance
  • Ability to translate end-user and stakeholder requirements into technical and functional requirements 
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation to assess compliance 
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Experience in mentoring and coordinating junior team members
  • Advanced knowledge of English, both written and spoken. 



Nice to have:
  • Experience in risk assessment, policy development, and compliance analysis related to AI and data
  • Experience with Generative AI, including developing or fine-tuning LLMs or building applications powered by foundation models.
  • Experience with technical proposal writing for funding acquisition
  • Experience with cloud development (AWS, Azure etc.)
